The application window for Training and Doctrine Command’s two-year Civilian Leader Development Programs is currently open. TRADOC G-1/4 is accepting applications through April 21, for the Intermediate Leader Development and Senior Leader Development and Programs.
Likewise, the Department of the Army has opened the application window for a wide range of developmental programs under the Senior Enterprise Talent Management and Enterprise Talent Management programs. Suspense for these highly regarded programs is May 15.
TRADOC’s ILD and SLD programs leverage developmental assignments, executive education and mentoring to prepare emerging civilian leaders for positions of greater responsibility. The SLD program provides developmental opportunities for high-performing GS-13’s through GS-15 employees. The ILD program addressed addresses leadership development of mid-level civilian employees, GS-11 through GS-13’s.
The SETM and ETM programs target the development of civilians in grades GS13-15. Programs range from 90-day developmental assignments to attending Senior Service Colleges. TRADOC senior leaders provide mock interviews and coaching of SETM and ETM applicants to assist them in competing for these opportunities. TRADOC applicants have competed well. Last year, four TRADOC employees applied for SSC and all four were selected to attend.
Time is running out on the application window for both TRADOC and DA civilian development programs for 2017. Interested civilian employees should avail themselves of the opportunity to step outside of their comfort zones, enhance their tool kits and address gaps in leadership competencies.
