Soldiers, noncommissioned officers and drill sergeants began competing in the 2017 Victory Best Warrior Competition May 16, 2017. The Soldiers are vying to be the best on Fort Jackson before heading to the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine competition to be held on post later this year.
The competition has changed from previous years as the candidates took an Army physical fitness test and then conducted day and night land navigation on the first day. On May 17, the candidates stood before a board of sergeants major and even had an on-camera interview.
Later this week, among other things, the candidates will compete in rifle marksmanship, navigate the fit-to-win course and show proficiency in Army combatives.
