Just a quick ‘shout out’ to everybody … thanks for connecting through this blog and giving me your feedback! This week, I’ve asked Sgt. Maj. Rich Johnson to offer you information about the Digital Job Book to follow up on last week’s post.
Check it out Soldiers!
Sgt. Maj. Rich Johnson, U.S. Army Combined Arms Center
Those of us who have been in the Army awhile may remember the job books we crammed into our BDU pockets, waiting for our sergeants to sign off tasks when we demonstrated proficiency. I hated carrying it around and wanted to get it done so I’d have one less thing to carry.
Based on Soldier feedback, soon, the Army will access the job books through the “My Training Dashboard” display on the Army Training Network or AKO. The dashboard has many tools in the Digital Training Management System (DTMS) Job Book, for Soldiers and ‘Leader Dashboard,’ for leaders.
The Digital Job Book is available for all Soldiers in the Army and requires no special account registration. I recommend Soldiers expand the DTMS window to maximize the view to easily see the six selectable tabs:
- Physical Training
- Weapons Qualification
- Mandatory Training
- Scheduled Classes
- Unit Training Schedules
We want to keep the view clear and easy to understand so Soldiers have a concise list of relevant training information. Take a look below to get a preview look exclusively through, “Straight from the CSM!”
P.S. Spread the word, share the link!

The main page looks like this and gives you a simple view of the tabs available. Soon Soldiers will be able to access the job books through the “My Training Dashboard” display on the Army Training Network or AKO. The dashboard has many tools in the Digital Training Management System (DTMS) Job Book, for Soldiers and ‘Leader Dashboard,’ for leaders.
‘Physical Training Tab.’ Under this tab the Soldier can view their most recent Height / Weight screening and B/F pass / fail status as it is recorded in DTMS by their training room NCO.
The Soldier can also view their most recent APFT and APFT profile status as recorded in DTMS.
When the Soldier selects the ‘Weapons Qualification’ tab they will be presented with their historical weapons qualification to date as recorded in DTMS
When the Soldier selects the ‘Mandatory Training’ tab they will be presented with three categories of tasks.
1) Mandatory tasks (AR 350-1 mandatory training and any other command directed training as recorded in DTMS)
2) Warrior Tasks (Army Warrior Tasks)
3) Individual Critical Tasks (Critical tasks for the Soldier based on primary MOS and Rank as identified by the proponent).
In each category the Soldier will be presented with:
1) The Task Number
2) The Task Name
3) on the event roster… or … the date they last trained the task and the status of; pass, fail, or need to get current (in the event the task has a retrain frequency identified)
Every task name displayed is hyperlinked to the T&EO for the task.
Scheduled Classes Tab
When the Soldier selects the ‘Scheduled Classes Tab’ they will be presented with any current and historical course information. When the Soldier views their DTMS Job Book and if they are registered to attend a Course they will receive a ‘Course Registration Alert’ identifying they are enrolled in a course with the basic course information:
1) Course ID
2) Course Name
3) Class Start Date
4) Class End Date
5) Registration Source (ATRRS or Troop School)
7) Enrollment Status
The Soldier will also be provided with a details link that will either direct them to the ATRRS Course catalog where they can search for the course and view additional course information such as packing list, prerequisites etc… or they will see the prerequisites for the troop school class.
When the Soldier selects the ‘Training Schedule’ tab they will be presented with their units current approved training schedule as built and approved in DTMS.
